Mozilla launches Firefox OS for smartphones.

Our very own browser Mozilla Firefox has launched its new operating system focused on smartphones called Firefox OS. Same as in browser, Firefox OS has taken an open web standard in designing the OS with the support of HTML5. Firefox OS is powered by Geekphone, to give full hardware support.

Firefox OS is available for developers to test and add more applications to it. The best part is that you can run Android Marketplace to get more support from the other mobile platforms. Most probably you may also get Windows Apps store in it. Due this cross platform support you can use more applications. For developers Firefox OS simulators are also available which give a good replica of the OS to test it.

The Firefox powered phones are available in the market. You can buy it online.
